Welcome to my brand-spanking new website update! And welcome to 2017! I cannot tell a lie: 2016 was a CRAZY year. For me, 2016 was all about buckling down and working my butt off. I filmed nearly 50 weddings in less than 10 months! Some of those second-shooting and primary-shooting gigs are featured in my instagram post from yesterday (seen below.) But let's back-track...
As an independent contractor, I've been filming weddings since 2010, and have been unbelievably lucky to work with and for some immensely talented cinematographers. It started with assisting, gradually taking of more responsibility - setting up the lights, hooking up audio and clipping on mics, editing loopers, highlights, cinematic films, third-shooting, second-shooting, primary-shooting... And that's about as far as one can go when one works for someone else. In that time, I got engaged and married as well, and the experience from the other side of the lens is an awesome one, in every sense of the word.
In 2016, I dipped my toes in the waters of taking on my very own weddings, most notably with the August wedding day of an incredible dude I knew way back in college, and his seriously charming bride.
I dare say that went fairly well. The excitement I felt about taking on that day was the last in a long line of signs that despite all of my resistance, wedding filmmaking is where I belong. The water is fine, so I'm taking the plunge. And that's the point of all this, to say once and for all that I'm officially booking wedding films for 2017!
If you're engaged, well hello there! I'd love to hear from you, and I'd especially love to come hang out with you on your wedding day to capture the amazing moments that make up your love story. I'd love for you to have a film that encompasses the love that you and your partner share, that you can look back on and remember why you married them in the first place.
I'll have packages and rates posted to the Weddings page of my new and improved website soon. This also means I'll be digging up some never-before-seen wedding film footage, shot and edited by yours truly, to kick-start my matrimonial portfolio, so keep an eye out for those soon! The best way to stay updated is my Facebook page.
I don't know about you, but I've got major hopes and dreams for 2017 to be an amazing year. I hope you'll join me as I attempt to blog the journey I'm taking with my little videography business, for updates on new projects and to get the stories behind some of my awesome clients!
